The pressing force of the instrument on the sample is always kept constant by a static load from weights. The pressing speed is maintained at a constant rate by a lifting mechanism using an air damper, and it can also be adjusted using a speed control knob. Additionally, unlike hydraulic dampers, there is no concern about oil leakage or the need for oil replenishment. By adopting a flexible joint mechanism, the instrument's pressing surface reliably contacts the measurement surface of the tilted sample. It is possible to obtain measurement pressures of 500g, 1000g, 1250g, and 5000g (depending on the model). It can be used with both analog and digital hardness testers.
